Welcome to Nutritional Newbies!
Contrary to popular opinion this blog is not going to be established on the premise of weight loss at the speed of light. The goal is to expose you to nutritional facts and the dangers of what we consume on a daily basis with the hopes that a little change today will yield a greater return tomorrow. Investing in your health is almost like investing in the stock market, put in a small amount everyday and over time you will become wealthy.
Over and over again, I hear the phrase "you are what you eat" but do you know what you are eating? We have been become a society based on convenience and speed and because of this we are deteriorating our bodies with JUNK that is available in 1.2 seconds but taking 1.2 years off of our lives every time we consume it!
So my challenge to all my NUTRITIONAL NEWBIES.....Stop and think about what you are eating before you eat it. Think about how it was made and what it might do to your body. If you don't know what it will do, find out! (Or ask me and I will do the research for you)
Education is the key!
Take this journey with me and unlike the other gimmicks out there, I promise you will reap a reward for your diligence!

I woke up and had water with lemon. It was cool. I went right to the bathroom after . I must say, I feel pretty cool and more upbeat today. Had trouble getting up earlier and didn't eat my fruit until I got to work. Also didn't work out this morning, but I plan to workout tomorrow morning (if we don't have parking lot ministry until midnight tonight).
ReplyDeleteToday and tomorrow is raw foods days. Smelling other people's lunch at work today has been difficult and I started to crave beef for some reason. Anyhoo, I'm resisting. I have yet to eat my veggies, but I'll be doing so after typing out this journal. I'm hungry as heck!
Day 1 has been pretty easy and smooth. Maybe it was because I didn't go to work and had the time and patience to follow through on things. Hean, my boyfriend, and I had lunch together. My food was great even without being fried and prepared in less than 3 minutes! I almost slipped up when they brought Hean's coke to the table. They had that good crushed ice that I like in it and I reached for it but quickly remembered: NO SODAS! I have to get the raw food day in there quickly. . .I think it will be tomorrow and Friday.
ReplyDeleteToday was good day (that's Ice Cube). I began drinking the lemon water two days ago to prepare myself for the routine of it. I had a plumb this morning and Raisin Bran crunch-the last of the boxes that Toya gave me. For dinner I had rotisserrie chicken, spinach, rice and Texas toast. To drink- apple juice. I will do a repeat of dinner before I go to bed. Oh yeah, I did elementary school exercises in my living room for 1 whole minute.

Wow. The day is almost over and I am so sleepy. When I woke up this morning I started working. I skipped putting lemon in my water because I didn't go to the store until lunch time. I wanted to start this new lifestlyle change with the fast but my stomach had other plans. By lunch, there was a hand coming out of my stomach trying to grab everything in site. Just like the Burger King commercial. LOL.LOL.
ReplyDeleteFor lunch, I had a salad from Ryans which consisted of cucumbers, rainsins, olives, carrots, egg, raw sunflower seeds, spinage, and roman lettuce. I only put 2 tablespoons of ceasar dressing. I was felling great after that. I drank 48oz on water and had my favorite fruit...Watermelon and OMG the bathroom was my best friend. LOL! I couldn't stay out of there. You would have thought I was pregnant or starting some new diet...OH, I am. To the second one only. LOL.
For a late dinner, I had a light healthy sandwich and now I'm ready for bed. I will probably drink more water before I go. Tomorrow I will be doing all RAW foods. That will be exciting. I will keep you posted so Stay tuned....
Ok...so day 1 was ok. I started pretty slow, as I had been up most the night. Very hard to get up! Because I hadn't been to the grocery store yet, I had no fresh fruit (including lemon) so I didn't get breakfast until I stopped at Kroger on my way to work. Breakfast: Bowl of fruit; Lunch: turkey sandwich w/cheese & mustard; dinner sauteed "healthy ones" polska kielbasa in onions and bell peppers w/ egg noodles & broccoli. So, I cheated a bit, I ran out of olive oil, so I had to use veggie oil :( I did snack on raw almonds w/ dried cranberries & blue berries yummm! (I did have one mini reeses cup..I know I know..one for the road! LOL)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll see/feel more a difference tomorrow. I've done my shopping, and I plan on doing the waking up early and all that jazz. We'll see what happens! (I think I'm going to start the my all raw days next week in a full week.)
Though I didn't feel a change physically, I can definitely see a change mentally. I've really started looking at the nutritional values and ingredients of items I eat. I have an app on my iPhone that has all the nutritional info on food from various chain restaurants, and it really amazed me at how many calories and much sodium is in even a simple grilled chicken salad at Chilis. It really has me in a new mind set of how I want to cook for myself way more! (gosh..that was kinda long, huh??lol)
WOW, Day 1, came so fast. Today didnt actually go the way I had invisioned it to be. I didnt wake up until 2:30 today, so I didnt get to do the lemon and water. Of course when I woke up I was hungry so I ate ceral and milk. Because of me so lethargic I didnt exercise either. Around 5 I ate a oat and honey granola bar and for dinner I ate a tuna melt and apple. Im hoping I get a better start tomorrow. Im going to bed now because if I dont I will go back to the kitchen. I look forward to giving a better report tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI am so elated to see everyone participating! I love to see your journey documented and now you too can look back at the beginning and see where you came from to where you are going! Today I did not start my day off with exercise but I did turn the music on and dance around my room for a very long time. I actually started sweating but I don't know if that was from it being hot, me being pregnant or just good heart pumping activity! The junk food goblin tried to get me today. I made a nice green smoothie (will post about the benefits of this drink later)with spinach, water and apples it was looking so bright and juicy in the blender. When I went to pour the drink out of the blender the bottom portion was not on tight enough. It was like a volcano of green juice exploded all over the kitchen and as I stared in amazement and licked the juice that was running down my nose, I thought hehehehehe. I am not going to let this discourage me, so I lovingly cleaned it up and made another one! I WON THE BATTLE! JUNK FOOD GOBLIN YOU WON'T GET ME! TRY NEXT DOOR!
